Description:
This is the fruit of the Banksia Tree in Australia. They have to dry approximately 5 years before use. Once dry they are very hard and can add a rustic texture to dry arrangements as a whole pod. When the rough exterior is turned away and the pod is sanded, it is worth the work it takes to reach it. The subtle contrast between the colors of the pod's interior are now smooth to the touch and invite you to hold and feel it. The pear shown here has 3 coats of finish applied and rubbed to have a satin sheen. These can be ordered as individual pieces or in a set.
